ORNERY PEOPLE working documents in envelopes

There's a good deal of overlapping of the envelopes here.
This just goes back to the 1600s and 1700s on what became U.S. soil. None of these folks came to the United States, of course. The Choctaws and Cherokees had been here a while and the others came to various colonies--Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina. A few families were English or Welsh, several families are Pennsylvania Dutch, but most of them are Scots, either Scots from Ireland or Scots from Scotland. As far as I can tell, they were all ornery.
